How about Karry engine? Compared with the old 1.5L, the new 1.5T can be called “a change of gun”
If you want to know how Karry is, you have to talk about its engine directly. The new Karry adopts the national 6 version of 1.5T turbocharged engine, while the 1.5L self-priming engine still remains in the national 5 standard. Compared with 1.5L self-priming, the maximum power of this new engine has increased from 80kW to 115KW, and the peak torque has increased from 140n · m to 230n · m, which can be described as an improvement of a whole level. What about the cost? The corresponding price will be raised by thousands of yuan.
The difference between this 1.5T model sqre4t15c engine and the old self-priming engine is that in addition to using turbocharging technology, the valve train of the two engines is different. The 1.5L self-priming engine is a single overhead camshaft, while this 1.5T engine uses a double overhead camshaft. Compared with the single overhead camshaft, the double overhead camshaft directly drives the rocker arm, eliminating the tappet and push rod, so it is suitable for high-speed engines. This engine has achieved an amazing efficiency of 37%.
The 1.5L self-priming engine with the model of sqrd4g15 belongs to the machine developed by Chery earlier. Later, there have been improved models with the engine power of 85KW, but it is not carried on the Karry. Early Chery classic models were equipped with this engine, including Qiyun, Fengyun, A3, etc. At present, this single overhead camshaft engine seems to have fallen behind the times. It lacks VVT variable valve timing system, which makes its fuel consumption and emission far behind the new engine. But such a simple engine also has the advantage that it is easy to repair and maintain.
The no-load fuel consumption of the old 1.5L engine is about 7.5. After full load of goods, it soars to more than 11L for 100 kilometers, and the shortcomings of starting meat are exposed. In addition to the thermal efficiency, the power level of the new 1.5T engine is also a small bright spot, and the power is in the forefront of the same level. Although it has not been verified by the owner for a long time on the Karry, the high torque of turbocharging can certainly improve the situation that the car can’t go just by listening to the roar of the engine.
How about the quality of Karry automatic gear? The 4AT on the old model will not continue to be equipped, and the new model will be replaced manually
The old Karry is equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission independently developed by Chery, but it has not been equipped on the 1.5T model for the time being. This gearbox is produced by Ruilong Automobile Power Co., Ltd. in Ordos. 4AT was once carried on Chery classic models such as Ruihu 3x and arize, but that was several years ago. Now Chery entry-level cars use CVT gearbox for automatic transmission.
For the 4-speed automatic transmission, the smoothness of gentle driving is still acceptable, but the frustration of fierce driving is very strong. Chery is not the only one. In the past, many old-fashioned 4ats were like this, so later Chery transformed to develop CVT gearbox. We don’t have to expect the fuel consumption of 4AT. This gearbox has reached more than 10 fuel on small SUVs such as Ruihu 3x, so it’s also a wise decision for the owners of Karry not to choose the automatic version. It’s reasonable for Kairui to gradually stop producing 4AT models.
Now the 5-speed manual transmission matched with 1.5T is not only produced by Chery, but also has been in service for a long time. From the current point of view, this manual transmission has no bright spots, no ramp assistance, and it is difficult to enter the reverse gear, let alone the automatic oil replenishment function of advanced manual gear. Now its only advantage is that it is economical enough, and the cost saved by the gearbox can keep the price of A18 at the current level. This retro gearbox also has a potential advantage. The driver’s technology will improve quickly. Some vehicles in Chery family have started to be equipped with Aisin 6at gearbox, while A18, the gearbox of the previous era with the latest engine, seems to be in some contrast.
