It is impossible to list each tool. What’s more, the question is “common tools”. Common tools depend on the users. For car owners, common tools may be hammers, screwdrivers and pliers; For auto repairmen, almost all maintenance tools are commonly used. Automobile maintenance tools are divided into four categories: wrench, hammer, screwdriver and pliers;

Wrench is a hand tool that uses the lever principle to turn bolts, screws, nuts and other threads to hold the opening or socket fastener of bolts or nuts.
Its working principle is that a clamp is made at one or both ends of the handle. When the handle applies external force, the bolt or nut can be screwed and the opening or sleeve hole of the bolt or nut can be held.
When the wrench is used, external force should be applied to the handle along the thread rotation direction, and the bolt or nut can be screwed. Wrenches are usually made of carbon structural steel or alloy structural steel.
There are basically two kinds of wrenches: Dead wrench and live wrench

1、 Screwdriver
Commonly known as “screwdriver” or “screwdriver”, common screwdrivers are divided into “ten” and “one”.Usage: insert the crosshead or slotted head of the screwdriver into the screw slot, and turn the handle to loosen the screw.

1. Straight screwdriver
Also known as slotted screw driver and flat screwdriver, it is used to tighten or loosen the screws with slotted head.
It is composed of handle, cutter body and cutting edge. Generally, the working part is made of carbon tool steel and quenched. Its specification is expressed by the length of the cutter body.
2. Cross screwdriver
Also known as cross groove screw driver and cross screwdriver, it is used to tighten or loosen the screw with cross groove on the head. The material specification is the same as that of a slotted screwdriver.
Correct selection and precautions of screwdriver:
1. When using the screwdriver, the head of the screwdriver must be indeed embedded in the groove of the nut. When twisting the screwdriver, the center line of the screwdriver must be on the same axis as the center line of the bolt;
2. When in use, in addition to applying torque, appropriate axial force shall also be applied to prevent parts from being damaged;
3. Do not operate with electricity;
4. When using the screwdriver, do not hold the parts in your hand for disassembly and assembly. If the screwdriver slides out, it is easy to hurt your hand. If you must hold the parts by hand, you should also operate carefully;
5. The selection of models and specifications shall be based on the width of the trench;
6. Do not pry anything with a screwdriver.

2、 Hand hammer / fitter hammer
Also known as dome hammer, one end of the hammer head is slightly curved, which is the basic working surface, and the other end is spherical, which is used to knock the workpiece with concave convex shape.
Specification of hand hammer: expressed by the mass of hammer head, 0.5 ~ 0.75kg is the most commonly used.
The hammer head is forged with 45 and 50 steel, and the working surfaces at both ends are subject to heat treatment.
Correct selection and precautions of hand hammer
1. Before using the hand hammer, be sure to carefully check whether the hammer head and handle are wedged firmly;
2. Hold the back of the hammer handle to prevent the hand from colliding with the workpiece;
3. There are three methods of swinging the hammer: wrist swing, forearm swing and big arm swing. Wrist swing only moves the wrist, and the hammering force is small, but accurate, fast and labor-saving; Boom swing is the movement of boom and forearm together, and the hammering force is the largest.
